“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
“Tears began streaming down Sari’s face. She was shocked by her own emotions as she listened to the Bible story. Her heart was weeping at the deep love of the father toward his prodigal son. Yet Sari had already heard this story many times, and had never cried before. What was the difference now?
“Today the story was in her mother tongue. Today, she truly understood it for the first time.”
When believers and non-Christians hear God’s story in their mother tongue for the first time, they are intrigued and want to hear more! Scripture comes alive in a new and refreshing way. For many, it is life changing.
Engaging the local church and community in Bible studies or listening groups are just a few of the ways to establish the reading of God’s Word and evangelism. These listening groups are where people can listen to an audio translation of Scripture or watch the “JESUS” film.
When Scripture is translated into the mother tongue and readily available, the local community becomes excited about going to church; prayer groups are formed in remote rural villages and churches begin to grow.
You can get involved by helping to translate Scripture at $30 a verse, or can help to print copies of the Gospel of Luke ($100/50 copies) or the Christmas story ($15). You can also help to provide Scripture on an Audibible® with a $30 donation or SIM card ($5).
Whatever you choose to give, your donation is greatly appreciated.
