National Aboriginal Day June 21, 2016 Appeal

June 2016

Dear Friends,

July 21st, 2016 is National Aboriginal day, but did you know that only 5% of First Nations people in Canada are Christian?

As we celebrate National Aboriginal Day and reflect on the current socio-economic challenges of the First Nations people, how can we effectively reach them with the Good News, and share a message of hope, healing, and reconciliation?

One solution is the First Nation Version (FVN) New Testament! This new translation may provide a refreshing way to share God’s story and be a source of hope to help hurting people move towards healing and reconciliation.

With this in mind, I would like to invite you to participate in what God is doing to effect change in our Indigenous communities across Canada.

With your help, we can raise $50,000 by the end of July to advance the translation of the FNV New Testament.

The project has made steady progress since it started in October 2015. More than 25 indigenous people from across Turtle Island (North America) participate as translators, reviewers, accuracy-checkers, or cultural consultants.

The translation team is using Scripture translation software to help them assign key terms to the original Greek root word to ensure Biblical accuracy, while maintaining the naturalness, cultural sensitivity and richness of the language.

The Gospel of Luke and Ephesians have been published and are available in a compilation book; the Gospels of Matthew and Mark are partially drafted and the Gospel of John is in the quality-checking phase.

Here’s an amazing video from Georgina, who shares her thoughts after reading the draft FNV Gospel of Luke!

Together, let’s help more people like Georgina connect with God, Creator, in the language that speaks to their hearts.

Please would you send a special gift today to support this unique Bible translation project, and help to provide the FNV New Testament to our First Nations people?

Thank you for prayerfully considering supporting this life-transforming project.

Please pray for the successful completion of the FNV New Testament and that the hearts of Indigenous people will be open to God’s Words.

God bless you!

With sincere gratitude,

Wayne Johnson
