Close to 100,000 people have fled their homes due to ongoing fighting in the region where six language projects are taking place. The displaced families are seeking shelter in over 70 camps and church compounds. Local churches offer housing and food and care for spiritual and psychological needs.
Project members hosted a Healing the Wounds of Trauma workshop to equip pastors and camp leaders to deal with the overwhelming emotional needs resulting from violence and displacement. Many of the workshop participants had also experienced trauma and grief, so were able to apply what they had learned to their own lives. “I have not only learned how to comfort and encourage traumatized people from the Word of God,” one participant shared, “but I have also learned how to forgive others.”
