Community checks are part of all translation processes that allow a team to get valuable feedback. In Indonesia, an older Laman woman helped with such checks. Translators read a passage of scripture in Laman and then she would re-tell the passage in her own words and answer questions. She was so moved by hearing scripture in her language for the first time, that as soon as she got home she began writing a worship song in Laman. A few months later, during a Bible Study/Leaders workshop, she excitedly asked if she could share it. Everyone was moved hearing their language used to publically praise God, they joyfully carried the music home to share in their own communities.
